Russel Bell's India Report January 18 to March 1, 2005

Dear Supporters and Interested:

I have now completed my 39th trip to India and 74th trip overseas for Jesus. I was blessed this year with two good American partners, Michael Niehues and Gary Bennett. I also arranged a vehicle, translator, and schedule for two widows, Mary Williams and Jean Handley, with P. Mary translating, guiding, seeing to their every need 24 hours per day. We had two cars, Ambassadors, and an SUV each day going in three directions so we could hold nine meetings per day, one morning, one afternoon, and one night meeting. As a result, we baptized 304 into Jesus. These four helpers, co–workers, each did their jobs well and adjusted to the primitive conditions exceptionally well. All four left me after 3–1/2 weeks and I then joined up with Gene Rrneau with whom it's always a pleasure to work. He and I have worked together for 25 years in India. Our work in India consists of teaching preachers in our schools and specially arranged preacher meetings, evangelistic meetings in cites and villages, plus helping to solve problems that arise from time to time.

Havin a SUV full of song books, Bibles, good books in Telugu, worship supplies, we deliver to churches and preachers all over Andrah Predesh and Tami Nader. We also look at permanent church buildings being constructed all over both these states, as once they come up to roof level, we donate 10,000 Rupees ($225.00) to help complete it. We formerly helped on 30 buildings per year, but now have raised that number in 2005 to 52 buildings per year or one each week. As soon as the buildings are complete, they fill up quickly.

Statistics of this trip

I delivered 60 lessons.
I saw 304.
I helped to establish several new churches of Christ.
Delivered worship supplies, books, both in English and Telugu, to hundreds of preachers and churches in India.
We now have completed all five of my books, “Rightly Dividing the Word of God,” Volumes I, II, III, IV, V, plus “God Man Money,” 10,000 copies each in the Telugu language for free distribution to Indian preachers and churches. This will aid the second part of the "Great Ccommission," Matthew 18:20, “teaching them [the ones you baptize] to observe all I [Jesus] command you.”.
Spent two nights at Sister Patricia's Orphanage find all well there, and they are starting to build their large church building on the orphanage property. It will be big enough to seat hundreds. We expect this church to become a large and strong church for our orphan children to grow up in. We will need several thousand dollars to complete this large building which will also serve as a school of preaching and a monthly preacher's meeting. Royce Fredrick and Herschell Bearden were the first to donate to this new project, $2,500. God bless you good brothers.

All of these projects will be paid for and delivered in 2005 at the completion of my second trip to India, August/September, my 40th trip to India. A new church of Christ starts in India every day. God continues to bless our India Evangelism. Churches of Christ are growing spiritually and in number. Pray for us and them. Hundreds of permanent church buildings are coming up all over India, but especially in A. P. and T. N. states. As soon as they are finished they fill up very quickly. Praise God!

In June, I will direct a door–knocking campaign with the Ahtlone Church of Christ in Capetown, South Africa. I will take ten workers from the U.S. with me. Please pray for us.
