Russel Bell's India Report — Jan. 11–Feb. 21, 2011

Dear Supporters and Interested,

“The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all” (2 Cor. 13:14). “I thank my God upon all my remembrance of you” (Phil. 1:3). God has once again blessed us with a very positive work in india. It couldn't have gone better. John O.Neal, Bridgeport, AL, worked with me all but a few days of this six–weeks work for Jesus. We continue to emphasize having elders and deacons in every church as soon as men qualify. Also, many lessons were presented on liberal giving, leading to self-supported churches in India. India's economy continues to grow and with it church collections are growing. A single collection in India the first Sunday of the new year 2011, totally for mission work, was more than $12,000. The church was Sai Nagar in Chennai with a regular attendance of over 1,000 people every Sunday morning. My first work was with this church in 1981 when the attendance was 20. This is not isolated, but hundreds of churches across India number in the hundreds and are well organized. Our God is truly blessing this ripest harvest field in the world where a new church of Christ begins every day and thousands are added to the Lord's church yearly. This is because of your generous contributions and partnership with me.

Statistics from the just completed work

Presented 70 lessons.
Saw 142 baptized.
Worked in four of India's states: Andhrah Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Punjab
Delivered Bibles, New Testaments, worship supplies, good religious books in their languages, bicycles and help on church buildings all over India.
We help carry out the following lectures and graduations from one end of India to the other, as outlined below:

Mumbai Lectures, Feb. 2–6
Aurangabad Bible College Lectures and Graduation, Feb. 7–11
National Bible College Lectures and Graduation, Feb. 13–14
North India Bible College, Chandagar, Feb. 17–18

Delivered my eight lessons on leadership at Aurangabad Bible College ot all students.
Conducted five other big preacher meetings, some one day and others two days.
Spent two nights in Sister Patricia Orphanage. Note: all 90 children are well and well dressed thanks to Alma Arterburn who provided the money for two new school uniforms for each childd. Thank you, Alma.
Ten evangelistic meetings in Tamil Nadu and A.P. border in a three–day period brought in 42 souls.
A series of five evangelistic meetings in four days in Aurangabad area brought in another 67 souls.

Half of the above items were purchased and delivered to good churches of Christ and their preachers all over India in this just completed work. We want to provide the other half in our Aug/Sept work in India. Will you continue to support this important work?

Here is my plan to raise the second half of the fund, $47,500. We are asking churches and individuals to donate $300 to $1,000 each. Some churches and individuals are donating twice each year and others monthly. Any amount would be helpful and appreciated.

All moneys from the sale of books go to India Evangelism.

My next work in India will be Aug. 2–Aug. 31, 2011 and in Myanmar Sept. 1–12.

Also, on June 8–July 1, 2011, I will direct a door knocking campaign in Cape Town, South Africa with the Athlone congregation. I will take 11 other workers with me. We will set up Bible studies and teach and baptize for three weeks before returning to the U.S.
