BLIND FOLLOWERS OF BLIND LEADERS–16

Blind Followers of Blind Leaders

Matthew 15:14

I read an article in a newspaper the other day that I would like to quote. The writer said, "Americans love choices, from custom designed homes to car lots and restaurants. Life is a virtual buffet. Religion isn't much different. We like a double-the-heaven, easy-on-the-hell kind of entreé followed by a desert tray of spirituality sprinkled with superficialty. Numbers sharpen the point. More people (72 percent) belive in heaven than believe in hell (56 percent). One fifth of people who claim to be born again believe in reincarnation and channeling of spirits. And while 96 percent of Americans believe in God or a higher power, the responses of 54 percent of people demonstrate "In God we trust" is a theme better left to currency than practicality; they trust themselves more than God to solve problems." Unquote.

These figures came from a book co-authored by George Gallup, Jr., and D. Michael Lindsay. The book title is Surveying the Religious Landscape.

These findings strengthen my claim that this world is filled with BLIND FOLLOWERS OF BLIND LEADERS. This world is filled with religious organizations that each have different thoughts, different views, and different doctrines of how they think to please God and go to heaven. They never seem to be concerned as to what God and Christ have to say on what is necessary to enter heaven; they only want to do it their way and this cannot be done.

Christ and our heavenly Father are not pleased with all of this religious division that is in the world today. The following are quotes from God's word, the Bible, concern division:

JOHN 17:21: "That they all may be one as thou Father art in me and I in thee that they also my be one in us that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."

Romans 12:16: "Be of the same mind one toward another."

MATTHEW 12:25: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand."

There are other verses from the word of God that condemn division among God's people, but space will not permit to quote them.

The apostle Paul tells us why there are a lot of BLIND FOLLOWERS OF BLIND LEADERS in the world. In writing to the Romans, he said, "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God" (Romans 10:3).
